Book Shop is a detailed 3D jigsaw puzzle where students build a colourful bookshop scene while strengthening visual-spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and sustained attention. As students sort pieces, analyze visual details, match patterns, and determine how the structure fits together, they practise planning, organization, and perseverance through a longer, more challenging task.

Designed for intermediate and secondary learners, this puzzle supports the development of spatial sense, logical thinking, and executive functioning skills. Students must interpret visual information, recognize relationships between parts and the whole, and adjust their strategies as the puzzle takes shape.

Aligned with key expectations in the Ontario Mathematics curriculum, particularly Spatial Sense and mathematical processes, this puzzle helps students describe and represent shape, location, and movement by applying geometric properties and spatial relationships.

It also supports problem-solving, reasoning, selecting strategies, and reflecting on the effectiveness of their approach. Ontario’s Grade 1–8 Mathematics curriculum identifies Spatial Sense as a strand focused on shape, location, movement, geometric properties, and spatial relationships.

Through hands-on construction and careful visual analysis, Book Shop encourages students to slow down, focus, and persist through a complex, screen-free challenge.
